Haggis Pie

Posted on

In my earlier post of Haggis, neeps & tatties, it was served up the traditional way of a portion each of haggis, mashed turnips & mashed potatoes on a plate….the quintessential dish for a Burn’s Night Supper …what I’ve done here is I’ve made a Haggis Pie instead …by simply layering the haggis, mashed turnips/swede and mashed potatoes in a casserole dish ….the way you would make a Shepherd’s Pie or Cottage Pie … except this is 3 layers instead of 2 layers ;-)

Layer the 3 ingredients in this order …haggis, mashed turnips/swede then topped with mashed potatoes …fluff the mashed potatoes up with a fork ….then bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°C for about 30 – 45 minutes … when served in this pie form, it is easier for me to cut up into serving size portions and freeze

Look at that bit of Haggis … yummilicious ;-)

Haggis, Neeps &Tatties

Haggis, Turnip & Potatoes …brought all the way with us from Scotland!!

Hubby’s comfort food from home … Haggis, Neeps & Tatties  ….also the quintessential dish for a Burn’s Night Supper ;-) … check out my other post of a Haggis Pie

Where we are here, we can’t get turnips so in place of turnips, we substitute with mashed carrots to serve up our Haggis meal :-)
